An Analysis on the Inception and Resistance to Animation's Greatest Misconception
Abstract: A research analysis on the origins and counter-culture regarding the misconception that animation is a genre for children's entertainment; opposed to the reality of it being a medium for creative expression.

"So you may be familiar with this sentiment already. Maybe you saw a trailer for an animated TV show and automatically assumed it was for children, or maybe you watched an adult animated film and while explaining it to your friend they looked at you and said in disbelief “wait, this isn’t a kids movie?”.

 

Don’t worry, there’s no judgement here. This lecture is all about taking a closer look at this misconception, seeing where it may have originated and exploring animated works (past and present) that challenge this notion outright."
